Meet Shannon Kowitz, Esq.

Shannon Kowitz has dedicated her career to helping families. She has over twelve years of experience representing clients in divorce, custody, protective orders and guardianships. She is focused on positive results and her compassion, application of the law and strategic approach sets her apart from other attorneys.

Kowitz began her career representing victims of domestic violence with the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County (now Hopeworks). There, Kowitz learned how to deal with high conflict personalities and act efficiently to prepare emergency matters. Once leaving Hopeworks, Kowitz worked in private practice, continuing to dedicate her work to resolving conflict within families. It is her life passion to provide a new beginning for those in a family transition.  

The Kowitz Law Group was developed because Shannon believed there was a need for client centered and compassionate family law services. 

Shannon is an active member of her legal and personal community. She is a past president of the Women’s Bar Association of Howard County. The Court appoints her to represent children in their parent’s divorces demonstrating that the court trusts her judgment in custody matters. Also, her peers have nominated her since 2013 as a Superlawyer, and in 2022, she was selected to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as a mentee for her exceptional commitment to her field. When she is not working with clients, she enjoys taking Peloton classes, making clay earrings and spending time with her family.
